Vinicius Palaretti, MSc.
Specialty: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Palaretti got his degree in Chemistry at the University of São Paulo in 2010 with honors and distinction. He was awarded as the best student in your class, reaching one of the highest average scores in the Chemistry course of all time. He got his MSc. at the University of São Paulo with prof. Marilda Assis and joined the department and the LOS team in 2010.

Virgínia Betarello (retired)

Virgínia got her degree in Chemistry at University of Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP) in 1983. When she joined the Department of Chemistry, in 1985, she firstly worked with prof. Bonilha and prof. João Luis Callegari Lopes.  Because Djalma was responsible for the 60 MHz NMR spectrometer at that time, she supported the professors in  General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry experimental classes.  After the acquisition of the 300 MHz NMR spectrometer, she started working with prof. Maurício Constantino. Virgínia was always acknowledged in thesis and dissertations written by the graduate students she used to help. She got retired in 2011. Currently, she spent days enjoying her niece.

Djalma Batista Gianeti (retired)

Djalma joined the Department of Chemistry in 1972 when it was still held in the Pathology building in the Faculty of Medicine. In 1985, when the department was moved to the "brand new" Block 8. In the first years, Djalma attended all the undergraduate courses. Some years later, he became responsible for the  "brand new"  60 MHz NMR spectrometer. Just after the 300 MHz NMR spectrometer was set, Virginia got the department and became responsible for the NMR spectrometers. Meanwhile, Djalma helped to set the first mass spectrometer in the Department of Chemistry -  a GC-MS - and became responsible for the MS and IR analyses.  Djalma was honored more than ten times by undergraduate students during graduation ceremonies. He defended the Chemistry team in the soccer league for almost four decades. He was always available to help everyone. " The smiling one who never say no" got retired in 2016. Currently, Djalma spends his days enjoying his grandsons.
