Antonio Eduardo Miller Crotti studied Chemistry at the University of Franca. In July 1999, he got an internship as a volunteer at the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis (LOS). In 2001 and 2005, respectively, he finished his MSc and Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Prof. João Luis Callegari Lopes at the University of São Paulo. His MSc and Ph.D. projects focused on the isolation and structural elucidation of Natural Products from plants and mass spectrometry, respectively. From March 2005 to May 2013, prof. Miller was a researcher at the Research Group on Natural Products of the University of Franca (GPNUF), where he was the advisor of a dozen of graduate students. In 2011, he came back to LOS as a post-doctoral fellow researcher under the supervision of prof. Paulo Marcos Donate. In 2013, prof. Miller started his teaching and research activities at the Department of Chemistry and relocated his group to LOS. From July 2018 to June 2019, prof. Miller was a visiting professor at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada for a sabbatical year under the supervision of prof. J. Scott McIndoe.
Currently, his research focuses on biologically active synthetic and natural products and on the application of mass spectrometry in the elucidation of organic compounds, gas-phase fragmentation reactions, and the investigation of organic reaction mechanisms.
Prof. Miller loves studying and teaching organic chemistry. Outside the lab, he likes watching TV series, especially comedies, and spends his time with his children and wife. When prof. Miller is talking to someone, everyone in the lab can listen to his loud laughs, so it is easy to know when he is around.
